How to Import Coffee from Indonesia
Key steps buyers should understand before requesting Indonesian coffee suppliers and export-ready green coffee lots.
Importing coffee from Indonesia starts with a clear buying brief. Before contacting suppliers, define the coffee type, origin preference, grade, volume, target price, packaging, destination port, and document requirements.
Start with Supplier Fit
Not every producer exports directly. Some farms and cooperatives work through exporters, while established suppliers may already support international documentation and shipment coordination.
Ask whether the supplier is export-ready, works with an export partner, or needs a buyer to coordinate export services.
Documents to Discuss
Common export conversations may include commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, phytosanitary certificate, ICO documentation, fumigation requirements, and any certification paperwork.
Requirements differ by destination, so buyers should confirm import rules in their own market.
Samples and Contracts
For specialty coffee, sample approval and lot separation are important. For commercial robusta or wholesale green beans, consistency, grading, and delivery schedule are often the biggest concerns.
